Like a lot of things in life, Elle Vie wasn't something that was planned but born out of necessity. NOT TO LIVE LIFE ASHY!!! Like this proverbial problem

that we all deal with, life will present opportunities like this for us to solve. Thus allowing us to shine and show our natural abilities & personality. The

the birth
of a brand.

IT ALL STARTED SEVERAL YEARS AGO when I visited a small shop in Washington, DC that sold the most enticing body butters. It had the kind of scent that forced strangers to pay compliments. I was drawn to it because of the way it lifted my mood as it softened and moisturized my skin. Purchasing multiple jars of this body butter became part of my routine when visiting DC. As luck would have it, during a holiday trip to the Nation’s Capital in 2013, I made my usual visit to the shop and found myself victim to “ improvements” made to the shop’s inventory. The body butter I loved so much, had been discontinued. I was devastated!

So I immediately tried to find a replacement for this now essential part of my routine but to no avail. I was back to the old ashy, dry-skinned, scentless, full-of-attitude person that I grew up from. See, it’s difficult to find a mass-market skin product that feels customized. Moisturizers are either too thin, too thick, too flowery, have too many chemicals, or have you smelling like a wall plug-in.

For a person like me, this was unacceptable! So with my entrepreneurial spirit and engineering background, I went to work to solve this minor yet major inconvenience. I wanted something that reflected me and my values: something that was light, and natural with a sophisticatedly mature scent. I wanted to use rich oils and create intoxicating fragrances with pure ingredients.

During this process of development, I started to develop the inspiration for the name of my newly birthed product. Something that would be fitting and match my personality. Something sophisticated yet not pretentious, something that is well-balanced with a lively spirit. After weeks of thought and some input from friends and family, I landed on the name and idea of “Elle Vie” in French which translates to “SHE LIVES” in English. The more I thought about it, I realized that it’s not just French terminology, but I’m speaking to many more people, across cultures, dialects, and ethnicities. So I felt it was a fitting name and wanted to use it as a transcending view on life; I wanted ElleVie's body to represent a beacon of light for an unapologetic culture…a vibe.
